Things I don't need

I've just been making a list of all the things I don't need and it is a long one. Over the years I've slowly gotten used to doing without more and more items.  Some of the things I did without in the past I have come back to but most I have not. It is easy to live cheaply when your list of needs is very short and your List of non-needs is long. :-) For some reason I have been blessed to need/want very little. Not only is that a cheaper way to live but it is very liberating because you're not surrounded by stuff.

NON-NEEDS 

Coffee/tea/alcohol

tobacco (pipes, cigarettes, e-cig, chew)

After shave, 

Meds (i'm currently off all of them)

Vitamins (eat right and don't use them)

Toothpaste (experimenting doing w/o)

Car (nearly)

New clothes (nearly)

Meats (chicken, beef, pork, etc.)

Dairy (cheese, milk, ice cream, yogurt)

Candy/chocolates (causes mood drop)

Donuts/pastries 

Processed foods 

Soda pop (gave it up 35 years ago)

Bottled water (I trust tap water)

Video/computer Games & systems

Clothes dryer (use clothes line)

Pets (food, grooming, leash/collar)

Part I "Why go vegetarian?"

The most misunderstood verse of scripture in all the standard works is probably Doctrine & Covenants 49:18. Most people think it says something like; "Don't be hating meat eaters" If you are one of those individuals, you owe it to yourself to read the verse again. If you read it carefully (and perhaps diagram it so the triple negative doesn't throw you off) you may find that almost everyone has been reading it wrong. If you solve that piece of the puzzle, you'll be ready for part II. Good luck!

Part II "Why go vegetarian?"

"Please read the following verses:
D&C 89:13 And it is pleasing unto me that they (beasts) should not be used, only in times of winter, or of cold, or famine (I believe the Lord is saying, "when there is a need".).
15 And these (beasts) hath God made for the use of man only in times of famine and excess of hunger (Again, it sounds like the killing of animals is condoned only when there is a need).
Now read 49:21 "And wo be unto man that sheddeth blood or that wasteth flesh and hath no need" Kind of sobering isn't it?
And the phrase just before it: "wherefore the world lieth in sin." When read chiasmically this phrase could go after 49:21 as I have written it here. If you disagree with my analysis, do you own research and let me know what "sin" is being referred to in verse 49:20. While doing that, consider what behavior is performed by nearly everyone in the world, e.g. killing and eating animals. Meanwhile, have a good day and come back tomorrow for Puzzle piece #3!

Personal disclaimer: I'm not some kind of vegetarian Nazi. I don't and won't force vegetarianism on anyone and I don't look down on omnivores; some of my best friends eat meat! I am doing this blog simply because I'm excited about vegetarianism and the things I am learning and that is all.
